Kicking off with a two-night sitting last Monday and Tuesday, our first Unrestricted guest chef event was a huge success. It was such an honour to welcome the amazingly talented Lachlan Colwill and his team into our kitchen.
Currently residing as Head Chef at Hentley Farm in South Australia’s Barossa Valley, Lachlan is regarded as one of the country’s most forward-thinking and innovative chefs. From being ranked in Gourmet Traveller’s Top 100 Restaurants for four consecutive years to being a Two Hat winner in the 2018 Good Food Guide, Lachlan’s signature flavours and cooking style has earned him serious recognition.
Showcasing some of the most loved dishes from Lachlan’s popular ‘discovery menu’ at Hentley Farm, guests had the unique opportunity to indulge in an incredible 8 course degustation menu.
Guests were also treated to selection of Hentley Farm’s stunning boutique wines, including a 2014 Hentley Farm ‘Clos Otto’ Shiraz, 2015 Hentley Farm ‘The Beast’ Shiraz and 2017 Hentley Farm Riesling, to name a few.
Every effort was made to recreate the award-winning Hentley Farm experience at Maha. Each course was beautifully presented, just how it would be in Lachlan’s own kitchen. Even premium produce, such as fresh farm quail eggs and Southern bluefin tuna from Port Lincoln, was shipped to Melbourne from the Barossa Valley.
